Scientific Programme

The Congress will offer 4 Plenary Lectures, 6 Plenary Sessions and 3 Parallel Sessions for oral presentations selected among poster contributions.
Venues
The Opening Lecture, the first Plenary Session and the Welcome Cocktail will take place on September 17 at the Rectorate of The University Roma Tre (Via Ostiense 133).
The SIMGBM Congress will continue at the Department of Law, Roma Tre University, from September 18 to 20 (Via Ostiense 159).
How to get there
From Fiumicino “Leonardo da Vinci” airport
You can take the “Leonardo Express” direct train from Fiumicino Airport to Termini Station.
The train takes 32 minutes and runs every 30 minutes (from 6:23 to 23:23).
Train tickets can be purchased at automatic machines or ticket offices at Fiumicino Airport and Termini Station.

From Ciampino airport
You can get the coach TERRAVISION SHUTTLE from Roma Ciampino Airport to Roma Termini Railway Station (and back). Tickets can be purchased from booths at Ciampino airport (opposite the arrivals hall). For timetable and further information visit http://www.terravision.eu.
Then you take the underground from Termini train station
You can take the bus to the Anagnina underground Station (terminal station of the underground). The bus runs every 30 minutes until 22:40. Route time about 5 minutes. From there, take the underground (Line A) towards “Battistini/Termini” and get off at Termini.
You can take the bus 720 to Laurentina. Then you walk about 3 minutes and take the underground (Line B) to Basilica San Paolo.

Important notes:
Registration fees must be paid by bank transfer or credit card.
Receipt will be sent by email after payment is cleared.
To benefit from the SIMGBM member reduced fee, membership payments must have been paid regularly including 2025.
SIMGBM Member Junior Participants (BSc, Master, Specialization, PhD student, research fellow) must submit an official studentship certification.
SIMGBM Non Member Junior participants (BSc, Master, Specialization, PhD student, research fellow, up to 31 years old) must submit an official studentship certification.
If older than 31, SIMGBM Non Member participant will be considered as a Senior Participant.
Registration will be considered complete only after payment is cleared. Please, make sure to take care of the payment with greater advance if payment is handled by a University or Society administration.
Please remind that SIMGBM is a no profit scientific Society and has no VAT number but only Tax ID number (Codice Fiscale). SIMGBM will issue receipts and not invoices.
After August 22, registrations will only be possible on-site.
Abstracts
ABSTRACTS ARE ACCEPTED EXCLUSIVELY DURING ONLINE REGISTRATION.
Submitted abstracts will not be considered if the corresponding registration payments are not received within June 30.
The abstract should be submitted by the presenting author only.
The abstract text must be no longer than 250 words.
In the registration form you will find details for abstract editing.
During the submission procedure, the presenting Author must choose between oral and poster presentation and indicate a specific session (A, B, C):
A: Microbial genetics and genomics
B: Environmental and industrial microbiology
C: Interactions between microbes/viruses and their hosts.
The Session Chairs will review all abstracts proposed for oral presentations and will select 12 abstracts for each session among those presented by young researchers. Selected abstracts will be granted by FEMS.
- Participants selected for oral presentation will be notified in due advance.
- Non-selected abstracts will be presented as a poster.
Abstracts selected for oral presentation can be presented also as a poster.
Since the number of abstract submitted is higher than expected and the space available for posters is not sufficient, due to security measures, the Organizing Committee decided that abstracts selected for oral presentation will not be presented as posters.

Welcome Cocktail
A Welcome Cocktail will be offered to all participants on September 17, at 19.00, on the terrace of the Rectorate of the University Roma Tre and a Jazz band will play live music during the event.
Participants are kindly requested to indicate if they will attend the welcome cocktail upon online registration to the Congress.
Social Dinner, Music and Drinks
Social Dinner will take place on September 19, h 20.30, at the Restaurant “Il Biondo Tevere” https://www.albiondotevere.it/
The restaurant is located in Via Ostiense 178, at 3 min walking distance (200 m) from the venue.
